I recently upgraded my 2007 MacBook Pro from Snow Leopard (10.6.8) to Lion (10.7.3). This being my work machine I was usually too busy with work stuff to spend the time upgrading but recently some software I use regularly started acting up and all bug fixes are for Lion only versions, making an upgrade mandatory.
Since upgrading my Time Machine backups have stopped working. At one point it sat with the message “Preparing Backup” for 5 days without doing anything, I started looking for help and found this site. Using this widget I was able to get a better look as to what Time Machine was doing. Not that it’s working yet, but I’ve got a better start on getting it there.
I’m hoping that I don’t lose all the backups that I’ve previously done under Snow Leopard and can continue on. Time Machine is starting to clear space off the backup drive, so I take this as a good sign that progress is being made.
